Chilvers Coton Heritage Centre holds an important collection of First and Second World War material connected to Nuneaton and the surrounding area. These archives help preserve the memories and experiences of local people whose lives were shaped by wartime service, industry and life on the home front.

The collection includes photographs, newspapers, maps, military records, personal documents and local research material covering both world wars. Visitors can explore how the wars affected everyday life in the community, from rationing and air raid precautions to the contribution of local factories and volunteers. The archives also contain information on local servicemen and women, helping families and researchers trace connections to the past.

Particularly significant are records relating to wartime Nuneaton, including the bombing of Chilvers Coton in 1941, which destroyed the nearby parish church and caused lasting damage to the area. The Centre also preserves original Second World War air raid records for Chilvers Coton, providing a fascinating insight into how the community responded to enemy bombing, blackouts and civil defence measures during the war years.

The Heritage Centre also holds material connected with local First World War servicemen, including members of the 216th (Nuneaton) Regiment, which had strong links to the local community. Together, these archives provide a powerful and moving record of the sacrifices, resilience and experiences of local people during both world wars.
