School Visits.

Experience Victorian school life.

Chilvers Coton Heritage Centre features a beautifully restored Victorian schoolroom where children can step back in time and experience what school life was really like over 100 years ago. Especially popular with visiting schools, the interactive classroom allows children to dress in Victorian-style clothing, role-play as Victorian pupils and take part in authentic lessons led by our Victorian Headmaster.

Seated at original wooden desks, pupils can practise writing with ink and feather pens, learn arithmetic using pounds, shillings, and pence, and recite times tables by rote (memorisation technique based on repetition), just as Victorian children once did. The hands-on experience brings history to life in a fun and memorable way, helping children understand how very different schooldays were in the 19th century.
