1907 Charter Day Celebrations.

Grace darling was a Victorian heroine.  She, with her father and crew rowed a lifeboat through atrocious storm conditions to rescue a woman and three men from the sloop Forfarshire which has foundered on Big Harcar, a rocky island in the Farne Islands.

Grace Darling won the plaudits of the nation.  She was celebrity, but she sadly died of tuberculosis in 1842, aged 26.
